Rothfus' Statement on Border Policy

Congressman Keith Rothfus (PA-12) offered the following response to U.S. policy at the southern border:

"As a father of six, I am deeply committed to protecting the well-being and safety of all children," said Congressman Rothfus. "The best interests of any child should be considered as we deal with the challenge of minors who are intercepted while crossing our borders. I believe it is possible to uphold our nation's laws and ensure border security while taking steps to look out for the well-being of these children during a difficult situation. I will continue to work with my colleagues to find solutions that minimize the impact on the children involved during unlawful entry into the US including, where feasible, keeping families together. This is a complex problem that must be addressed thoughtfully with careful deliberation, but it is one that can be solved responsibly for the American people and affected children."
